Welcome

Studying art history was pivotal for me. I absorbed so much, the imagery fusing with my own sense of what art meant. The New York school of the 1950's: true non-representational expression usiong the materials as the subject; action painting using physical gesture; and methodical exploration of color fields and the importance of edges. Picasso, the model of creativity:, so prolific yet diverse while remaining truly original. Roger Dean and Peter Max: more graphically designed inspiration that I gravitated to immediately.

The influence of these giants in my work is never intentional, but for me it's magical. That's what is so fascinating about today's artists, they have been exposed to incredible diversity. How they use it or let their subconscious be influenced is beyond decision.

 When I am painting I am interacting with the surface, making decisions that will result in interest or beauty.. That's my general approach.
